If prior shows took a Village to put on—this Show took a City! Many of our volunteers dedicated hundreds of hours and a lot of blood (yes we provided band aids), sweat (yes we provided towels), and tears (yes we provided tissues) to put this together. We are grateful, thankful, and bursting with pride from the amazing results! Congratulations and THANK YOU for a job well done by all of our volunteers who helped bring this Show back to the Belknap Mill and to downtown Laconia in a very GRAND way! With our sincerest thanks, Ila and Katie, Co-Chairs Harvest of Quilts Show & Mysterious Quilt Journey
2021 Harvest of Quilts - Quilt Show & Mysterous Quilt Journey Sept 25th & 26th Saturday 10 am to 5 pm & Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm at the Belknap Mill, Laconia Housing & The Conference Center all in downtown Laconia, NH
Quilt Show Props
Your Quilt Show Props Committee is looking for Props for the upcoming quilt show. Props not only make our show more attractive, but they make it safer. The set-up committee places small props at the base of our quilt racks to prevent our guests from tripping over the rack supports. Small props such as children’s rocking chairs, toy cribs, dolls, plant stand (to display smaller quilted items) and other antique items are welcome.
You should label each item with the owner’s name and complete a Props Registration Form which you will find on the Guild’s website. Drop your items off at the Belknap Mill Props Registration Table on Thursday, September 23rd between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Pick them up after the show closes on Sunday, September 26th. Please contact Deb Derrick, Michelle Slock or Lori Gardiner (your Prop Committee Members) if you have any questions.
Thank you for making our show attractive and safe!
Registration for the “Journey” will involve a different form and will follow at a later date. For now, please be thinking about the quilts you are working on, or may have already made that match a particular business in downtown Laconia. The list of businesses from 2020 was posted in the March Newsletter for reference. The Mysterious Quilt Journey is a fun, interactive, family event, made all the more whimsical by matching quilts to the businesses, so please be thinking of all the quilts in your inventory! Just a reminder: Quilts in the “Journey” will NOT be voted on, nor will they be included in the Program Booklet. We’re getting excited about this year’s Quilt Show Extravaganza – hope you are too!! Katie & Ila, Quilt Show Co-Chairs
Attic Corner
If you find yourself home and cleaning your sewing room, please keep the Attic Corner in mind. We will be taking fabric donations at the donation bins anytime and at the meetings in June, July, August, and September. NO scraps! Any pieces you would like to donate now need to be a least 1/4 yard of quilting cotton or flannel. Denise Moore & I will sort, measure, mark and bundle these donations before the quilt show in September. All sewing-related donations are welcome to be dropped off at the show site on Friday, the day before the show opens. We take books, magazines, patterns, tools, rulers, etc. We have cleared more than $1000 in our corner of the show (not counting 2020) for the last several years because a lot of people donate a little. Please clearly mark the items “Attic Corner” when dropping them off.
Quilted Treasures
Hello Everyone!!! I would like to let you know that our team will be able to collect donated items at the monthly quilt meetings. The goal of the Quilted Treasures “Table” is twofold;
To showcase our amazing talents, and the fact we are a super generous and giving group;
And the second is promoting all of the things our Guild offers when you become a member.
Any handmade item is welcome. I will have some different ideas, patterns and premade kits for members if that sparks your creativity. Also, I will even have a few UFO’s for you to finish if you are feeling courageous. Consider joining the Quilted Treasurers team, if you are a person who likes to organize, play with fabric and cut, cut and cut !! Thank you for your team spirit!! Feel free to send me an email with ideas or comments: dawnlovell72@gmail.com.

Hanging Sleeve for Quilt Show Display
1. The hanging sleeve for your quilt does not need to be a permanent hanging sleeve. If however, you put a temporary sleeve over a permanent sleeve (for instance, if the show sleeve needs to be wider than the permanent sleeve), be sure that permanent sleeve is completely covered. 2. Cut a 11.5” strip of washed muslin or cotton fabric, making it 1” shorter than the top edge of the quilt. Turn under 1/4” twice at each end and stitch in place.
3. With wrong sides together, stitch long edges together 1/2” from raw edges. Baste the long folded edge loosely, 1/2” from edge.
4. Roll the seam to the middle of one side and place this side against the quilt backing. Press open or to one side; either way is fine. The basted seam should be away from the quilt, opposite to the stitched seam.
5. Slipstitch the top edge of the tube to the quilt backing about 1” below the inner edge of the binding and the lower edge of the sleeve flat to the quilt backing, catching the lower layer of the sleeve. Remove the basting so the front of the hanging sleeve is a little larger than the side which has been slip stitches to the backing. This excess will be taken up by the pole, allowing your quilt to hang smoothly without a ripple at the top.
